Trump issued executive orders punishing law firms that represented clients or causes he opposed — revoking security clearances and terminating federal building access. Four firms fought back and won court rulings blocking these orders. The DOJ agreed to drop its appeal. Then, without explanation, it reversed course overnight. Congress must pass legislation prohibiting executive retaliation against law firms, demand a full accounting of the DOJ's unexplained reversal, and make clear that no president is above the courts.
