Tell Chiquita: Reinstate Striking Workers

Is your banana backing union-busting?

Chiquita just fired about 5,000 banana workers in Panama for daring to demand better wages and safer conditions. These workers went on a legally sanctioned strike—and were met with mass firings.

This is union-busting, plain and simple.

Instead of addressing dangerous working conditions and poverty-level pay, Chiquita retaliated. Workers say they’ve faced toxic pesticide exposure, unsafe environments, and company intimidation. Now, Chiquita’s U.S.-based parent company is trying to silence them by forcing them to choose: their jobs or their union.

Tell Chiquita: “Reinstate striking workers now, or we’ll hold you accountable.”

This is bigger than one strike a world away. It’s about protecting the fundamental right to organize. If Chiquita gets away with this, other corporations will follow globally and locally. That’s why we need to act now.

Chiquita sells bananas across the U.S.—and that means we have power. They rely on a family-friendly image, and the last thing they want is for American moms and dads to associate their child’s banana with brutal labor violations.

Chiquita is hoping the world won’t notice. We need to prove them wrong, and show them we’re ready to stand with the workers who feed our families.

Tell Chiquita to reinstate striking workers and demand they negotiate in good faith with the union. Add your name now.
