Tell Acting CFPB Director Vought: Do Your Job or Resign

Russell Vought isn’t just failing at his job — he’s trying to erase it.

As both acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and director of the Office of Management and Budget, Vought is waging a coordinated campaign to gut the CFPB — the only agency that protects us from predatory lenders and junk fees. Meanwhile, he’s demanding that the CFPB examiners who remain read a “humility” pledge before doing their jobs.

This is sabotage, plain and simple. And if Vought succeeds, Wall Street will be unleashed on working families with no watchdog to stop them. We need to make it clear that if Vought won’t follow the law and do his job, he has no business leading the CFPB.

Tell Acting CFPB Director Russell Vought: “Stop sabotaging the CFPB. Restore funding, follow the law, and carry out your duties. If you won’t protect consumers, resign.”

The CFPB has returned billions of dollars to the public. It’s cracked down on payday lenders, predatory mortgages, discriminatory credit practices, and junk fees that nickel-and-dime Americans every day. That’s exactly why Vought and his billionaire friends want it gone.

The CFPB workers’ union has already gone to federal court, calling Vought’s moves an “illegal shutdown” and demanding the administration restore funding.

But our families shouldn’t have to wait. We deserve a CFPB director who will do their job instead of working against us.

Add your name now to demand: Russell Vought must restore lawful funding, stop sabotaging the CFPB, and do his job — or resign immediately.

The petition reads: “Stop sabotaging the CFPB. Restore funding, follow the law, and carry out your duties. If you won’t protect consumers, resign.”
