Tell ABC: Reinstate Terry Moran and Support Free Speech

ABC News has suspended longtime correspondent Terry Moran after he posted on social media that Donald Trump and adviser Stephen Miller are “world-class haters.” The comment, made on Moran’s personal account, was swiftly removed — but that didn’t stop ABC from punishing him for speaking his mind outside of work.

This is a dangerous precedent. There’s no indication Moran’s reporting was compromised, nor that he violated any journalistic standards on the job. ABC’s decision sends a chilling message: that even private expressions of opinion can cost journalists their careers.

ABC must reverse this decision immediately and make clear that its newsroom is not beholden to political retaliation or fear-based censorship.
