Swear in Adelita Grijalva Now

The House Speaker is now openly refusing to seat the duly elected representative from Arizona — and we demand accountability.

When Adelita Grijalva won her special election on September 23 by nearly 70 percent, Arizona certified her victory, and Democratic senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego personally confronted Speaker Mike Johnson to demand her oath of office. Johnson has delayed indefinitely, claiming he won’t swear her in until the government shutdown ends, even though other members were sworn in during “pro forma” sessions.

It’s urgent: Grijalva’s vote is the 218th signature needed to force a House vote to release complete investigative files on Jeffrey Epstein. By blocking her swearing-in, Johnson is suppressing our ability to demand truth and justice.

We call on Speaker Mike Johnson to administer the oath to Adelita Grijalva immediately, no later than October 20, 2025, before legislative business resumes. Public pressure must force his hand. If thousands demand to Speaker Johnson’s office, raise the cost of delay, and ensure the media spotlight never fades, he will have no escape. Congressional Republicans will feel the weight of public scrutiny — no one wants to be on record supporting a power grab.

We demand that Johnson obey constitutional precedent and seat her now. We require public updates: a commitment in writing, delivered to the Clerk of the House, with a firm date. We expect outreach to her Arizona constituents to explain county staff, federal services, and funding gaps while their district sits unrepresented.

We will not accept excuses. We will not surrender to delay. We will hold Johnson accountable through pressure, media, and mobilization. Sign this petition now to demand that Mike Johnson swear in Adelita Grijalva — today.
