Stop Trump’s School-Bus ICE Raids

ICE agents are taking parents at school bus stops — and Congress must act now.

In Danbury, Connecticut, officials and immigrant rights advocates say dozens of people were detained during the first few days of school, including parents seized around school drop-offs and bus stops. One volunteer described a father being taken by ICE right after handing his child to a school bus helper.

Children should not have to wonder whether their parents will still be there when they get home from school. Families should not be forced to update emergency contacts because federal agents might take a parent during the morning drop-off. And no community should be turned into a hunting ground while kids are trying to start a new school year.

Tell Congress: Investigate ICE’s Danbury raids, demand transparency, and block any additional ICE funding while agents are terrorizing families at schools and bus stops.

Senator Chris Murphy said Congress should not authorize "a single additional dollar for ICE" while this continues. He is right. Congress controls ICE’s budget, and lawmakers have the power to demand records, hold hearings, and force the agency to explain who was detained, why they were targeted, and whether agents used excessive force.

Danbury’s mayor has called for a public accounting of the number of people detained, the legal basis for the operations, prompt access to legal counsel, and an independent review of reported uses of force. That is the bare minimum.

ICE cannot be allowed to hide behind secrecy while families are ripped apart in front of schools, daycares, and children.

Add your name to our petition and demand Congress stop Trump’s school-bus ICE raids before more children come home to find their parents gone.

The petition to Congress reads:

"Investigate ICE’s Danbury operations immediately. Demand a full public accounting of who was detained and why, ensure prompt access to legal counsel, review all reported uses of force, and block any additional ICE funding while agents are terrorizing families at schools, daycares, and bus stops."
