Stop Trump’s Election-Year Gift to Putin

Donald Trump is trying to manipulate fuel prices before the midterms — and he is willing to bail out Vladimir Putin’s economy to do it.

Trump announced a deal to let Russia supply diesel to the United States and global markets, temporarily lifting pressure on Moscow while Putin’s war against Ukraine continues. It is a stunning reversal of U.S. policy — and a political gift to both Trump’s party and Russia’s dictator.

Trump helped create the high diesel price crisis with his reckless, seemingly endless war in Iran. Now he wants to clean up the political damage by cutting a deal with Putin and rewarding Russia with cash, legitimacy, and sanctions relief.

Tell Congress: Block Trump’s Russian diesel deal and refuse to let Putin profit from Trump's election-year panic.

Ukraine has already called out this deal for what it is: An undeserved gift to Putin while Russian forces continue attacking Ukrainian civilians. Every dollar that flows to Russia’s fuel industry risks strengthening the same war machine that has devastated Ukrainian cities, families, and energy infrastructure.

Congress cannot let Trump turn U.S. foreign policy into a campaign stunt. Lawmakers have the power to hold hearings, restrict sanctions relief, block Russian fuel imports, and force the administration to explain why it is rewarding Putin instead of standing with Ukraine.

If Trump can lift pressure on Russia whenever gas prices threaten Republican election chances, then U.S. sanctions become meaningless. Dictators will learn that they can wait out American resolve until Trump needs a political favor.

Add your name to our petition and demand Congress stop Trump’s election-year gift to Putin before Russian fuel money helps bankroll more war.

The petition to Congress reads: "Block Donald Trump’s Russian diesel deal. Stop any sanctions relief or import approval that lets Putin profit from his war against Ukraine, and use Congress’s full authority to prevent U.S. policy from being used as an election-year bailout for Trump and Russia."
