Stop Trump’s Election Monitors!

Just days before the 2025 election, President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice announced plans to deploy federal “election monitors” to polling places in California and New Jersey. Governor Gavin Newsom called it what it is — an attempt to rig the election through intimidation and federal interference.

These elections are run by local officials, not the White House. Yet Trump’s DOJ plans to send agents to five California counties — Los Angeles, Orange, Kern, Riverside, and Fresno — and to Passaic County, New Jersey. The Brennan Center for Justice warns that both federal and state laws prohibit armed federal officers from being stationed at polling places. This unprecedented move threatens voters’ rights and undermines the independence of state elections.

We’ve seen this tactic before: create fear, cast doubt, and destabilize democracy. But we can stop it. If enough of us speak out now, we can force Congress to act before October 30 to block these deployments and reaffirm that elections belong to the people — not the president.
