Stop Trump's Desperate $5,000 Midterms Bribe

Donald Trump is trying to turn the midterms into a cash-for-votes spectacle.

At a Republican midterm convention, Trump promised a $5,000 "dividend" to every adult American if Republicans keep control of the House and Senate. He offered no clear funding plan, no serious legislative proposal, and no explanation for why Americans should have to wait until after an election for money he claims the country can already afford.

This is not how democracy is supposed to work. Public money belongs to the people — not to any president’s campaign strategy. Congress must reject any attempt to tie taxpayer-funded payments to an election outcome and make clear that federal benefits cannot be dangled as partisan bait.

Tell Congress: Reject Trump’s $5,000 midterms scheme and protect the integrity of our elections.

Analysts estimate Trump's desperate plan could cost more than $1 trillion. If Congress allows Trump to turn the Treasury into a campaign prop, it sets a dangerous precedent for every future election.

Legal experts have also warned that presidents cannot simply send checks from the Treasury without congressional authorization. That power belongs to Congress. Lawmakers have a responsibility to defend it, not hand Trump a blank check to manipulate voters.

Americans deserve real economic relief — lower costs, stronger wages, affordable healthcare, and support that is passed transparently and legally. We can't allow Trump's desperate election stunt designed to blur the line between public policy and political bribery.

Add your name now and demand Congress stop Trump’s $5,000 midterms bribe before it goes any further.

The petition to Congress reads:

"Reject Donald Trump’s proposed $5,000 midterms bribe. Do not authorize or fund any taxpayer-funded payment tied to a partisan election outcome, defend Congress’s constitutional spending authority, and protect the integrity of our elections from cash-for-votes schemes."
