Stop Trump's Attacks on the Environmental Protection Agency

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are launching an illegal assault on the Environmental Protection Agency, threatening its ability to enforce laws that protect our air, water, and climate. Career EPA employees have been warned they could be immediately terminated for refusing to comply with Trump’s directives, while key regulations are being undermined or erased entirely. 

The situation has reached a crisis point, with Marie Owens-Powell, president of the union representing over 8,500 EPA employees, stating, "It's bad. I've been with the agency for over 33 years and I've never seen anything like this."

Congress has the power and responsibility to stop this. The Senate Government Affairs Committee and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform must take immediate action to hold the Trump administration accountable, block illegal efforts to gut the EPA, and ensure that environmental laws already on the books are actually enforced. These key congressional committees have a duty to conduct meaningful oversight, expose this corruption, and prevent Trump from turning the EPA into a tool of corporate polluters.

The EPA’s ability to enforce existing environmental laws is not up for debate—Congress has already passed laws requiring the agency to regulate pollution, combat climate change, and protect public health. But Trump and Musk are working to systematically dismantle the agency from within, blocking enforcement efforts and silencing scientists and career experts who refuse to bow to their dangerous anti-environment agenda. If these attacks go unchecked, it could set environmental protection efforts back by decades, exposing millions of Americans to increased pollution and public health risks.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has begun deleting all references to climate change from the EPA’s website in an Orwellian attempt to rewrite reality and hide the scientific consensus from the American people. This blatant suppression of facts is a reckless move designed to give polluters free rein while keeping the public in the dark about the worsening climate crisis. If they can erase the science, they can erase the urgency to act.
