Stop Trump's Attack on Nonprofits and Research Funding

A new proposal from the Office of Management and Budget would give Trump’s political appointees the power to deny federal grants based on political ideology. 

That means billions of dollars for disaster relief, Head Start, medical research, public education, environmental protection, and local economic development could be at risk if their programs include diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

More than 300 organizations have already warned that the proposal could impact government grant-making nationwide.

Not only would the proposal impact the critical funding support our communities rely on, Trump and Vought would also set a dangerous precedent. A president should never be allowed to use disaster aid, healthcare funding, or money for education as leverage for political obedience.

Congress has the power to act. Lawmakers can hold hearings, demand documents, restrict implementation, and defend their constitutional authority over federal spending.
