Stop Trump From Putting Propaganda Outside the Smithsonian

After Trump’s previous attempts at Smithsonian censorship failed, his administration is trying a new tactic.

Trump’s Interior Department is preparing to post roughly a dozen warning signs outside the National Museum of American History — signs written by political officials to “warn” visitors that the exhibits inside don’t match his view of history.

The final wording has not been released, but we already know the project is estimated to waste $84,000 of our money.

The good news is that the signs have not yet been installed, so there’s still time to stop MAGA propaganda from being posted outside of one of our most valued museums.

Tell Interior Secretary Doug Burgum: Don’t waste our tax dollars on Smithsonian trigger warnings. Cancel the plan to install Trump’s propaganda signs.

Museums should present history through evidence, scholarship, and professional standards — not under a cloud of political messaging imposed by whoever controls the White House.

Once this line is crossed, it will be easier to cross again. A future administration could surround museums, monuments, historic sites, or other public institutions with its own preferred version of events whenever it dislikes what visitors are being taught.

Public money should preserve history, expand access, and support education — not finance political rebuttals to museum exhibits.

Sign now and tell Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to keep political messaging off the grounds surrounding Smithsonian museums.

The petition to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum reads:

“Cancel the planned government-written signs outside the National Museum of American History and keep political messaging off the public grounds surrounding Smithsonian museums.”
