Stop the GOP Attack on Clean Energy Savings

House Republicans are advancing legislation to dismantle Biden-era energy efficiency standards and block clean-energy rebate programs — including measures designed to weaken appliance standards and restrict the Department of Energy’s ability to update them in the future. These bills would undercut programs that help families afford energy-efficient upgrades and would roll back some of the most effective tools we have to cut carbon pollution. We, the undersigned, demand that you reject these dangerous attacks on climate progress.

As our communities face record heat, raging wildfires, catastrophic floods, and stronger storms fueled by climate change, Congress should be accelerating climate action — not sabotaging it.

Energy efficiency standards are simple and effective: they reduce wasted energy, lower utility bills, and slash carbon pollution. Clean-energy rebates help families afford efficient appliances, home weatherization, and electric technologies that cut costs and protect our air.

These programs are not “red tape.” They are lifelines.

Rolling them back would mean higher energy bills for working families, more fossil fuel pollution in our air, and more climate chaos destabilizing our communities. It would lock in outdated, inefficient technologies just as the world races toward cleaner, cheaper energy solutions.

At a time when families are already struggling with rising costs, why would Congress vote to increase energy waste and pollution?

The climate crisis is here. We see it in deadly heat waves, failed crops, rising insurance premiums, and communities forced to rebuild after disaster after disaster. Weakening efficiency standards and eliminating clean-energy rebates would move us backward when we urgently need to move forward.

Congress must stand with consumers, not polluters. With families, not fossil fuel executives. With the future, not the past.

We call on members of Congress to vote NO on any bill that weakens energy efficiency standards or dismantles clean-energy rebate programs.

Protect our savings. Protect our health. Protect our climate.

Please sign this petition to tell Congress to vote NO on these rollbacks.

The petition to members of the U.S. House and Senate reads: Vote NO on the “Home Appliance Protection and Affordability Act” (H.R. 4626) and the “Homeowner Energy Freedom Act” (H.R. 4758), as well as any other legislation that would weaken federal energy efficiency standards or dismantle clean-energy rebate programs. At a time of escalating climate disasters and rising energy costs, Congress must strengthen — not sabotage — the policies that cut carbon pollution, lower household bills, and accelerate America’s transition to clean energy.
