Stop the Delays: Swear in Congresswoman Grijalva

Arizona voters spoke loud and clear when they elected Adelita Grijalva to Congress on September 23 — but nearly three weeks later, Speaker Mike Johnson still refuses to swear her in. Every day he delays, the people of southern Arizona are denied their voice in Congress.

Speaker Johnson’s stalling coincides with a push from Donald Trump and his allies to block a vote on releasing the Epstein files — a vote that could expose powerful figures. By keeping Grijalva from taking her seat, Johnson is not just denying representation; he’s helping shield those who fear accountability.

Senator Mark Kelly and Congressman Ruben Gallego have publicly condemned this delay, calling it “an insult to the voters of Arizona.” And they’re right. This is about democracy itself — whether the will of the people means anything when partisan leaders can silence a district for political convenience.

Adelita Grijalva made history as the first Latina ever elected to Congress from Arizona. Her victory represents progress, inclusion, and the democratic promise that every community deserves a seat at the table. Speaker Johnson’s refusal to administer her oath undermines that promise and disrespects the voters who made their choice clear weeks ago.

Every moment of delay denies 800,000 Arizonans a representative in Congress — and protects corruption at the highest levels. We cannot allow political games to override democracy.

Sign this petition to demand that Speaker Mike Johnson immediately swear in Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva. Let’s send a clear message: voters decide who serves in Congress, not politicians looking to protect their friends.
