Stop Massive Gas-Powered Data Centers

Big Tech is planning a massive AI expansion—and a group of Democratic senators is sounding the alarm.

Senators Sheldon Whitehouse, Martin Heinrich, and Chris Van Hollen are investigating plans to build 12 new data centers powered by large natural-gas plants. These massive facilities could emit millions of tons of greenhouse gases each year while releasing dangerous air pollution into nearby communities.

This is a climate problem we can’t afford to ignore.

If these projects move forward, they could lock in decades of fossil fuel pollution—just as scientists warn we must rapidly cut emissions to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. More gas infrastructure means more extreme heat, wildfires, floods, and rising seas.

And it doesn’t have to be this way.

Data centers can run on clean, renewable energy like wind, solar, and battery storage. The technology exists. What’s missing is accountability.

That’s why this Senate investigation matters—and why we must act now.

Add your name to demand that the Senate:

» Expand the investigation into gas-powered data centers

» Hold Big Tech accountable for climate pollution

» Require new data centers to run on 100% renewable energy

Advances in AI that enrich billionaires while putting workers at risk should not come at the expense of our climate or our health.

Stand with the senators taking action—and demand a clean energy future.
