Stop ICE’s Fast-Track Deportation Facility for Families

ICE is preparing to open a new facility in Louisiana for one clear purpose: deporting families and unaccompanied children faster.

The planned 528-bed site in Alexandria would hold migrant families and unaccompanied children near a major deportation hub, and is reportedly tied to a private prison contractor. ICE calls it a temporary “staging area.” But that sanitized language hides the truth: this is a fast-track deportation pipeline for vulnerable people, including children.

No child should be routed through a private prison-linked holding center. No family fleeing danger should be rushed toward deportation before they can find a lawyer, understand their rights, or make their case for protection.

Tell Congress and the Department of Homeland Security: Halt this facility now, investigate the contract, and stop ICE from expanding family and child detention.

ICE is moving ahead with a plan that could put traumatized children, asylum seekers, and parents into a detention pipeline already marked by deaths, warnings, and abuse.

The newly proposed facility is reportedly tied to a private prison contractor with a deeply alarming record: LaSalle Corrections. At Winn Correctional Center, a LaSalle-run ICE detention facility in Louisiana, two people died in less than two months this year. Federal inspectors already flagged serious problems there, including poor medical documentation, unsanitary conditions, crumbling infrastructure, and inappropriate use-of-force incidents.

That record should disqualify any LaSalle-linked operator from detaining children and families. But ICE doesn't care. They want families deported faster.

Faster deportations mean fewer chances to contact attorneys, gather evidence, challenge wrongful removal, or seek asylum. For children, even short detention can cause lasting harm. For families, rushed deportation can mean being sent back to danger without a fair chance to be heard.

Congress cannot let ICE hide this escalation behind bureaucratic language. They must block funding and force DHS to answer why children are being rushed into a deportation pipeline.
