The Trump administration is planning a massive expansion of ICE’s detention system, and taxpayers like you would foot the bill.

Leaked documents obtained by the ACLU reveal a sweeping effort to detain more than 100,000 immigrants every day by vastly expanding ICE’s detention network. This includes new contracts with private prison corporations like GEO Group and CoreCivic, who profit from human suffering while delivering horrifying conditions and little accountability. And now, the Trump administration is asking Congress to approve $175 billion in new ICE funding to make it all happen.

We cannot allow our taxpayer dollars to bankroll a cruel, bloated immigration system that enriches private companies and rips families apart.

A recent investigation from Common Dreams found that ICE’s existing detention centers are plagued by medical neglect, inhumane conditions, and abuses that violate basic human rights. Yet instead of fixing what’s broken, Trump wants to supercharge this system to fast-track deportations and fill private jail beds—turning a humanitarian crisis into a business model.

Trump’s expansion would be immoral, but also wasteful. We’re being asked to spend billions expanding a system that devalues lives, ignores due process, and routinely fails basic standards of care.

Congress has the power to stop this. But with Trump pushing hard and Republicans backing his agenda, we need a massive public outcry to block the funding and stop this reckless expansion before it's too late.
