Stop DOJ Obstruction of Good & Pretti Investigations

The Justice Department is burying the truth—and Congress must act now.

Two American citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, are dead after encounters with federal agents. What should have happened next is simple and non-negotiable: thorough, unbiased, transparent investigations. Instead, according to multiple reports, senior officials inside Trump’s Department of Justice stepped in to block them because they were afraid that they would contradict Trump’s false claims.

Congress has the power—and the responsibility—to intervene. Lawmakers must investigate DOJ obstruction in the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, subpoena documents and testimony, and force the release of evidence so independent investigations can finally proceed.

Tell Congress: “Investigate DOJ obstruction now. Ensure we finally learn the truth about the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.”

After the shooting of Renee Good, career federal prosecutors quickly moved forward with a routine civil rights investigation. Then DOJ leadership shut it down, restricted access to evidence, and redirected prosecutors away from examining the shooting itself.

Then, when Alex Pretti was killed while trying to help a protester who was sprayed with tear gas, state investigators sought cooperation and evidence. Even with a warrant, federal officials denied them access to the scene and obstructed their investigation.

When the Justice Department blocks investigations to protect political narratives, it sends a chilling message: federal agents can kill civilians and avoid scrutiny, and the truth can be buried if it’s inconvenient. That endangers every community and shreds public trust in the rule of law.

If Congress stays silent, the cover-up stands. Sign now and demand accountability before it’s too late.

The petition to Congress reads: “Investigate DOJ obstruction now. Ensure we finally learn the truth about the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.”
