Stand With the NAACP to Protect Voter Privacy in Georgia

Georgians deserve to know that their personal information — and their right to vote — will not be weaponized.

After the FBI seized ballots, voter rolls, and sensitive election records from Fulton County’s elections hub, the NAACP and allied civil rights organizations took swift action. They filed a motion asking a federal judge to place strict limits on how that voter data can be used — and to prohibit any misuse for voter roll purges, election interference, or immigration enforcement.

When people register to vote, they entrust the government with deeply personal information: addresses, birth dates, identification numbers. That trust is foundational to our democracy. The NAACP is right to demand transparency, accountability, and ironclad protections to ensure this data is used only for its stated investigative purpose — and nothing more.

The motion also calls for a full inventory of what was seized, who has accessed it, and how it has been handled. That’s not obstruction — it’s oversight. At a time when federal officials are aggressively seeking voter rolls across the country, protecting the privacy and security of voter information is essential to safeguarding participation in free and fair elections.

No voter should fear that registering to vote could expose them to political targeting or intimidation. Protecting voter data protects democracy itself.

Add your name to applaud the NAACP and its partners for standing up for voter privacy, demanding accountability, and defending the fundamental right to vote without fear.
