Stand With Senate Democrats to Protect Voting Rights

We applaud Senator Alex Padilla and fellow Democratic senators for their powerful stand against the GOP’s extreme voter suppression bill, the so-called "Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act." This dangerous legislation, backed by President Trump and his allies, would erect unnecessary barriers to voting, disenfranchising tens of millions of eligible Americans — including women, military families, and overseas voters.

By demanding citizenship documentation like a passport or birth certificate, this bill threatens the foundation of our democracy and undermines the constitutional right to vote. Worse still, Trump's recent executive order and the politicization of the Justice Department show a coordinated effort to intimidate voters and restrict access to the ballot.

We stand with Senators Padilla, Schumer, Klobuchar, Reed, Bennet, Merkley, and Welch in rejecting these attacks and defending every American’s right to participate in free and fair elections. We call on the Senate to reject the SAVE Act and on all elected officials to safeguard—not suppress—our democratic rights.
