We call on Congress to oppose any efforts to defund National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). These institutions are vital to our democracy, providing rigorous, high-quality reporting that millions of Americans rely upon, along with educational programming. The Trump administration has issued an executive order aimed at blocking NPR and PBS from receiving public funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) — stating that government funding for media was “outdated” and “unnecessary”, and claiming that the outlets do not present “fair, accurate, or unbiased” reporting. Defunding NPR and PBS would diminish the nation’s quality of journalism while eroding the democratic values that these institutions uphold. We must advocate for our representatives to act in the public interest to protect Americans’ access to these essential sources of information. Add your name now to tell Congress: protect public media and reject any attempt to defund NPR and PBS.
