Stand with NPR, PBS, and the Corporation for Broadcasting

We strongly support the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), NPR, and PBS in their legal and moral stand against President Trump’s executive order attempting to defund public media.

This order is not only a dangerous overreach of executive power — attempting to sidestep Congress and attack independent journalism — but it also threatens to cut off vital information, education, and cultural programming for millions of Americans, especially in rural communities. As CPB President Patricia Harrison rightly stated, Congress alone holds the authority to fund CPB, a nonprofit entity established to remain free from political control or interference.

Public media belongs to the people. These organizations offer essential services — from educational children’s programming to emergency alerts and trustworthy, fact-based news coverage — and have earned the public’s trust for decades. The president’s move is a blatant attempt to silence outlets that don’t fall in line with his agenda, and we cannot allow authoritarianism to take root by gutting public institutions.

We call on Congress, the courts, and the American people to defend the independence of NPR, PBS, and all public broadcasters. Add your name to show your support for public media and reject the political censorship of our nation’s most trusted news and educational platforms.
