Stand with Gov. Newsom Against Federal Overreach

Governor Gavin Newsom is taking a bold stand for California, for our Constitution, and for the right of states to protect their own communities. When President Trump bypassed state authority and deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles without consent, he crossed a line—undermining local leadership and escalating tensions during a moment that called for calm and respect.

Gov. Newsom is right: commandeering a state's National Guard without the governor’s approval is not just dangerous—it’s illegal. California’s lawsuit against the Trump administration is about more than a single decision. It’s about defending the principle that states have the right to manage their own public safety and National Guard resources, especially when protests are overwhelmingly peaceful and local agencies are capable.
