Now, the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers — representing millions of educators — are standing up in court to say enough. Their lawsuit argues that Trump’s policy of allowing arrests at schools and houses of worship violates the law, traumatizes students, and violates families’ constitutional rights.

Teachers have witnessed children too afraid to attend class, parents reluctant to sign up for special education, and classrooms plunged into fear instead of discovery. Faith leaders have seen worshippers too anxious to attend services. This is not who we are as a country.
