Stand With Arizona in Defending Democracy and Representation

Arizona is fighting back against political obstruction and standing up for the right to fair representation.

Attorney General Kris Mayes has filed a lawsuit to force Speaker Mike Johnson to swear in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva, who overwhelmingly won her special election nearly a month ago. Johnson’s refusal to seat her has left more than 813,000 Arizonans without a voice in Congress — an outrageous act of partisan obstruction that violates the core principles of democracy.

As Mayes said, “By blocking Adelita Grijalva from taking her rightful oath of office, [Johnson] is subjecting Arizona’s seventh Congressional district to taxation without representation.” Her lawsuit makes clear that the people of Arizona will not be silenced or treated as second-class citizens.

Democrats, led by Hakeem Jeffries, are backing this fight — and they’re right. Every American deserves full representation in Congress. This isn’t just a political issue — it’s about the Constitution, equality, and the basic right to have your vote count.

Add your name to applaud Arizona’s leadership, stand with Kris Mayes and Adelita Grijalva, and demand that every voter — in every state — have the representation they’re guaranteed by law.
