Sign the Petition: Abolish the Electoral College

At a recent fundraiser, Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz called for the U.S. to move to a national popular vote, a system that would better reflect the will of the people. He pointed out how undemocratic the Electoral College is, saying, “I think all of us know the Electoral College needs to go.”

This system skews our democracy, making voters in swing states more powerful than those in deeply blue or red states. People in places like California or Alabama often feel like their votes don’t count, and that’s not how democracy should work.

The presidency should go to the candidate who receives the most votes from Americans, not through a process that prioritizes a handful of battleground states.

Stanford professor Jack Rakove agrees, noting that the Electoral College “undermines the basic democratic value of one person, one vote.” Furthermore, Walz emphasized that moving to a popular vote would give all Americans a true voice in presidential elections, ensuring that every vote carries equal weight.

Sign this petition to join Tim Walz in calling for the abolition of the Electoral College. It’s time for a fair system where the president is chosen by the will of the people—because every vote should matter.
