SIGN NOW: Stop this Food Safety Loophole

Current federal regulations allow companies to bypass FDA approval for new food additives by simply declaring that the substance is “generally recognized as safe” or GRAS. Food and chemical companies can pay their own employees or external “experts” to make GRAS determinations, and worse yet, companies don't even have to tell FDA when they declare a substance GRAS. Due to this "secret GRAS" loophole, industry—not FDA—decides which chemicals are safe for us to eat, and there are now thousands of chemicals added to our foods that have never undergone independent safety evaluations by the FDA.

Sign the petition to demand the FDA decide what's safe for our food.
