Seriously, Fox: Report Honestly on Medicaid Cuts & Premiums

Fox News continues to downplay the GOP's “One Big Beautiful Bill” despite a Congressional Budget Office warning that it would strip Medicaid from nearly 12 million Americans over the next decade and slash over $1 trillion from the program.
 
They portray these cuts as targeting “fraud and abuse,” but ignore coverage bottlenecks for rural hospitals and the dire human toll — including thousands of preventable deaths annually. 

Beyond Medicaid, deeper analysis shows that removing federal funding — like premium subsidies tied to Medicaid — would raise private insurance rates across the board, increasing premiums by as much as $485 per year for working Americans, and adding 16 million more uninsured. This context is missing from much of mainstream coverage.

Ahead of the House vote, the media must inform — not echo political spin. News outlets must report the full impact of Medicaid reductions, premium hikes, rural hospital risks, and public health consequences. Only with factual, comprehensive journalism can voters make informed decisions.
