Senator Schumer: Fight to End Fossil Fuel Subsidies

In recent days, two new global reports highlighted the challenge we face when it comes to slowing climate change. 

First, a new report on climate and health shows that older adults, among many others, are dying in increasing numbers because of recent extreme heat events around the world. 

Then, another troubling report found that fossil fuel subsidies are pushing us closer and closer to irreversible climate chaos around the globe. Some estimate that the United States subsidizes the fossil fuel industry around 20 billion dollars a year.

We need leadership on climate issues TODAY, not tomorrow.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer cares deeply about climate change. And as he points out on his campaign website, it “disproportionately harms poorer and working class communities and communities of color, making it not only an environmental crisis, but also an economic and justice crisis.”
