Say ‘NO’ to a Pay Raise for Congress

Since taking control of the House, Republicans have taken an ax to critical program funding in areas of education, healthcare, social security, and more. But in a jarring new move, they’re trying to give themselves a pay raise for the coming fiscal year.

Under the new spending legislation, members of Congress would receive a 4.6% or $8,000 pay increase in 2024. Keep in mind that most members currently make an annual salary of $174,000.

In the midst of the push for a pay raise, Congressional Republicans are also pushing for steeper cuts to federal spending and handing out more tax cuts to the top 1%. A move like this only further hurts the working middle class.
