Save PBS and NPR From Trump’s Attacks

Donald Trump is going after PBS and NPR, threatening to cut federal funding and launching politically motivated investigations into their programming. His administration is working to silence independent journalism and public broadcasting, putting at risk the trusted news, educational content, and cultural programming that millions of Americans rely on.

Trump’s allies in Congress have called PBS and NPR “biased” and are using federal investigations to justify gutting their funding. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is now targeting both organizations in an effort to intimidate journalists and suppress reporting that doesn’t align with Trump’s agenda.

PBS and NPR provide fact-based journalism, in-depth investigative reporting, and nonpartisan coverage of national and global events. They also bring educational programming to schools, cultural enrichment to communities, and public service broadcasting to underserved areas. Cutting their funding would be an attack on free speech, public access to quality news, and the millions of Americans who rely on these services every day.

Public broadcasting should not be at the mercy of partisan attacks. Congress must stand up for independent journalism and defend PBS and NPR from these politically driven threats.

Sign this petition to demand that Congress protect federal funding for PBS and NPR and stop Trump’s attempts to silence public media. Our democracy depends on a free and independent press—we cannot let Trump destroy it.

The petition to Congress reads: "We urge you to protect federal funding for PBS and NPR and reject any politically motivated efforts to undermine public broadcasting. These institutions provide essential fact-based journalism, educational programming, and cultural content that millions of Americans rely on, and Congress must ensure they remain independent and fully funded."
