Protect Workers’ Rights Now!

The Senate is moving toward a vote on Scott Mayer, a longtime corporate labor attorney, to sit on the National Labor Relations Board — and workers across the country could pay the price. Mayer built his career defending corporations accused of violating workers’ rights, including years at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, a firm known for representing employers with troubling labor records. As Boeing’s chief labor counsel, he worked on high-profile disputes that drew bipartisan concern in recent hearings.

Now, with the NLRB struggling to function due to a lost quorum, the Senate is considering giving Mayer the power to shape federal labor law for years. Confirming him would secure a Republican majority on the board and fast-track rulings that weaken organizing rights and tilt the system even further toward corporate interests at a moment when retaliation and union-busting are surging nationwide.

Public pressure can still stop this. Senators respond when their constituents speak out loudly and quickly — when it becomes clear that approving a nominee who has spent his career shielding corporations from accountability carries political consequences. If we act now, we can delay the vote, force deeper scrutiny, or block the nomination altogether.

But time is running out. The Senate could advance this nomination any day. If we don’t flood their offices with calls, emails, and public demands for accountability, Mayer’s confirmation may slide through quietly.

Add your name and tell your Senators: Do not confirm Scott Mayer to the NLRB. Workers need a defender, not another corporate lawyer on the nation’s top labor board. Share this widely — we need urgent action before it’s too late.
