Protect the Abortion Rights of Veterans

Donald Trump’s Department of Veterans Affairs is pushing a cruel new rule that would ban nearly all abortions in VA facilities—even in cases of rape, incest, or when a pregnant veteran’s health is at serious risk. 

If this goes through, it will cost lives.

For many veterans—especially in rural areas—the VA is their only source of healthcare. This ban would force survivors of sexual violence and those facing dangerous pregnancy complications to travel hundreds of miles, pay out of pocket, or risk unsafe procedures. 

This is a betrayal of the people who put everything on the line for our country. Veterans deserve the full spectrum of care, not political interference in the exam room.

Tell the Department of Veterans Affairs: “Keep our nation’s promise to veterans. Reject the plan to restrict the rights of patients to make their own medical decisions on abortion.”

Congress must also act to guarantee abortion access in VA healthcare, so no future administration can play politics with veterans’ lives. But this rule change presents an immediate threat and must be stopped.
