Protect Journalists Covering the LA Protests

Independent reporting organizations have verified at least 27 incidents of violence against journalists covering immigration‑raids protests in Los Angeles from June 6 to June 8. Most of these assaults were carried out by law enforcement. Journalists faced rubber bullets, pepper balls, tear gas canisters, and physical obstruction — all while visibly identifying as press.

Journalism cannot play its critical role in supporting democracy if reporters are silenced or harmed. We demand that all authorities, from local police to federal agents, stop targeting journalists, ensure clear protections and safe access in protest zones, and hold anyone who violently obstructs news reporting accountable.
