Pope Francis is Right: We Must Stop Burning Fossil Fuels

According to environmental activist and author Bill McKibben, religious leaders could play a key role in addressing climate change.

“The work of spiritual leaders around the world may be our best chance of getting hold of things, he said recently. "Yes, the engineers have done their job. Yes, the scientists have done their job. But it’s high time for the human heart to do its job. That’s what we need this leadership for."

Thankfully, Pope Francis is doing his part. 

The Vatican released a 10-page declaration warning that "the world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point."

The solution, he points out, is the “abandonment of fossil fuels.”
