Pass a Constitutional Amendment to Deny Trump Immunity

The Supreme Court’s shocking decision to give Donald Trump immunity has serious implications for the future of the presidency itself — on top of letting Trump off the hook for provoking a mob attack on our Capitol.

A sitting president could now literally use Seal Team 6 to murder his enemies and get away with it. “If Trump, as commander in chief, ordered his troops to assassinate somebody or stage a coup, that would seem to fall within the absolute immunity provision of the court’s decision,” said Cheryl Bader, a criminal law professor at Fordham Law School and a former federal prosecutor. Obviously, we cannot allow this to stand. 

Demand Congress pass a constitutional amendment to deny Trump immunity!

Democrats in Congress have recognized the severity of the situation and are already taking action. “I will introduce a constitutional amendment to reverse SCOTUS’ harmful decision and ensure that no president is above the law. This amendment will do what SCOTUS failed to do—prioritize our democracy,” said New York Rep. Joe Morelle.

We need to pass this constitutional amendment ASAP. This is America, where we elect PRESIDENTS, not kings. We cannot allow our leader to have the power to kill at will and get away with it, no matter who it is.
