No War with Iran — Congress Must Act Now

Donald Trump has moved U.S. air and naval forces deeper into the Middle East and could launch military strikes on Iran as soon as this weekend. Congress has not authorized war. The American people have not consented. This is a dangerous rush toward another catastrophic conflict.

The Constitution gives Congress — not the president — the power to declare war. The War Powers Resolution requires congressional approval for sustained military action. A unilateral strike would sidestep the law and risk dragging the United States into a massive regional war without debate or accountability.

The stakes are enormous. Iran is a country of more than 85 million people with significant regional influence and military capacity. A strike could ignite retaliation across the Middle East, endanger U.S. troops and civilians, destabilize global energy markets, and cost countless lives. The Costs of War Project estimates that post-9/11 wars have cost trillions of dollars and resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths. We cannot repeat this mistake.

Congress has previously advanced bipartisan efforts to rein in unauthorized war powers. They can do it again — but only if we demand it.

There is no time to wait. Before any strike is launched, Congress must pass a binding War Powers resolution prohibiting unauthorized military force against Iran. Hold hearings. Go on record. Defend the Constitution.

Sign this petition and tell Congress: No war with Iran. Not in our name.
