No Federal Troops in Our Cities — Protect Civil Liberties

America is not a battlefield. Yet as HuffPost reports, the Trump administration is moving to put federal troops on the ground in Washington, D.C., under the guise of fighting crime. This is a dangerous overreach — and a step toward authoritarian control.

Military force has no place in civilian communities. History shows that deploying troops in our cities escalates tensions, undermines trust, and erodes constitutional rights.

Our nation’s laws are enforced by civilian authorities for a reason: to keep military power separate from everyday life.

Congress must take immediate action to block the use of federal troops in domestic law enforcement. That means passing legislation to prevent political leaders from using the armed forces as a tool of intimidation.

Sign now to demand lawmakers stop the deployment of federal troops in our cities — and protect the civil liberties that are the foundation of American democracy.

If we allow this precedent to stand, we risk normalizing military occupation in our own neighborhoods. We must say no, loudly and clearly, before it’s too late.
