No Dangerous PFAS in Drinking Water

Earlier this year, a landmark drinking-water standard was approved. This standard requires the removal of chemicals known as PFAS in drinking water. PFAS, otherwise known as “forever chemicals”, are directly linked to cancer and other serious health risks.

Chemical and manufacturing groups sued the federal government last week, citing the rule was arbitrary and an abuse of discretion.

The Environment Protection Agency has said that the new standard put in place will prevent thousands of deaths and reduce tens of thousands of illnesses in Americans.

Brenda Mallory, chair of the White House’s Council on Environmental Quality, defended the Biden administration’s drinking-water standard by saying, “Everyone should be able to turn on the tap and know that the glass of water they fill is safe to drink,”

The standard was based on science, but chemical and water companies think their profits are more important than your health.
