Media Must Reject Partisan Ombudsmen at Legacy Outlets

CBS News has just appointed Kenneth R. Weinstein—a Republican donor and Trump supporter—to serve as ombudsman. He has no journalism experience, yet his role grants him power over newsroom coverage, allowing right-wing operatives to pressure journalists under the guise of fairness. 

This isn’t about balance—it’s about controlling the narrative. Media institutions must not become tools for partisan demands. They must protect editorial independence, not capitulate to political influence.
