Investigate DHS for Funneling Cash to Republican Ad Firms

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded contracts to Republican-linked advertising firms—without a competitive bidding process. This blatant abuse of public funds for pro-Trump, pro-Republican propaganda is a scandal that demands immediate investigation.

Two firms with deep ties to the Republican Party were handpicked by DHS for a $200 million public relations campaign. The process was rushed, competitive bidding was bypassed, and the firms selected are known for running Republican political ads. It’s clear this wasn’t about public service—it was about funneling taxpayer money to Republican allies and boosting them ahead of the midterm elections.

Congress has a responsibility to provide oversight, especially when federal agencies are misusing public funds. Yet Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Rand Paul—who spent the last administration peddling COVID conspiracy theories and harassing Planned Parenthood—has been completely silent. Now that there’s an actual scandal under his jurisdiction, he’s nowhere to be found.

This is unacceptable. We can’t allow our government to be turned into a partisan piggy bank. DHS should be focused on real security challenges—not on helping Trump and his allies win elections.
