Impeach AG Blanche for Weaponizing the DOJ Against Democrats

"I will not be intimidated. I will not be bullied. And I will not back down."

That's what Virginia state Senator L. Louise Lucas said this morning after she was indicted by Donald Trump's Justice Department on what appear to be bogus charges related to drug trafficking and money laundering.

She's far from the only prominent Democrat facing federal scrutiny. Under Attorney General Todd Blanche's leadership, federal agents searched Representative Ilhan Omar's home, prompting allegations of political retaliation and unconstitutional searches that the Justice Department disputes.

Blanche was also the Justice Department's second-highest-ranking official when federal prosecutors indicted former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James in 2025.

Congress has a Constitutional duty to ensure that Trump's DOJ isn't being used to target powerful Democrats for political purposes. As of right now, it is utterly failing to uphold that responsibility.

Tell House Speaker Mike Johnson and Congress: Return from recess immediately, investigate Todd Blanche's conduct, and launch impeachment proceedings if the evidence establishes serious abuses of power.

The concerns extend beyond politically sensitive prosecutions. As acting attorney general, Blanche established a proposed $1.8 billion fund to compensate people claiming to have been unfairly targeted by the government, including Trump allies. The plan provoked bipartisan objections and was eventually rescinded.

Congress has the constitutional authority to subpoena DOJ communications, question officials under oath, investigate political interference, and consider articles of impeachment. Lawmakers should use that authority now rather than wait for another controversy.

If political loyalty determines who gets investigated, prosecuted, or protected, equal justice under law becomes an empty promise.

Add your name and demand that Congress return from recess, investigate Blanche's leadership, and pursue accountability through the constitutional impeachment process wherever the evidence warrants it.

The petition to House Speaker Mike Johnson and the U.S. House of Representatives reads:

"Immediately return from recess and launch a formal impeachment investigation into Attorney General Todd Blanche's conduct as deputy attorney general and attorney general. Investigate potential political interference in federal prosecutions, subpoena relevant DOJ records, hold public hearings, and pursue articles of impeachment if the evidence establishes impeachable misconduct. Defend the Constitution and ensure the Justice Department serves the American people — not any president's political interests."
