Illinois Wins: Judge Stops Trump’s Troop Plan

A federal judge just delivered a major win for democracy, the Constitution, and the people of Illinois — blocking Donald Trump’s reckless attempt to deploy National Guard troops in Chicago.

Judge Perry ruled that there is no “danger of rebellion” in Illinois and that Trump’s order violated both the 10th Amendment — which protects states’ rights — and the 14th Amendment’s guarantees of due process and equal protection. This decision is a clear rejection of the Trump administration’s effort to use the military as a political weapon against peaceful communities.

Governor JB Pritzker, Mayor Brandon Johnson, and Attorney General Kwame Raoul fought back — and won. They proved that states have the power to defend their residents and that federal overreach will not go unchecked.

This ruling is more than a legal victory — it’s a powerful affirmation of the rule of law, local control, and the fundamental principle that our government exists to serve people, not intimidate them.

Add your name to celebrate this victory, thank Illinois’ leaders for standing strong, and defend the right of every community to live free from unlawful militarization.
