Renee Good was a 37-year-old Minneapolis mother of three who was shot and killed by an ICE agent during a federal operation earlier this month. She was unarmed, and the killing has ignited widespread outrage as officials defend the agent’s actions and communities demand accountability. In the aftermath, more than $1.5 million has already been raised across multiple GoFundMe online fundraising pages directly for Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who killed Renee Good. That money is being solicited to support him personally and to fund his legal defense — while the killing itself remains under investigation and unanswered questions persist. "GoFundMe claims to be committed to helping people, and yet it continues to profit from our pain,” said Nicole Regalado, vice president of campaigns at UltraViolet. "Until each and every campaign supporting Jonathan Ross is taken down, GoFundMe will remain complicit in legitimizing ICE’s campaign of terror and violence on our communities." GoFundMe’s own policies prohibit campaigns that defend or benefit individuals accused of violent wrongdoing. Allowing these fundraisers to remain live sends a dangerous signal that deadly force by federal agents can be rewarded, normalized, and monetized. It reinforces a double standard where those with badges and guns are shielded with financial support, while communities are left to grieve and demand justice. This is not about deciding guilt in a courtroom. It is about corporate responsibility. GoFundMe is not obligated to host every campaign — it makes choices. And those choices reflect values. Continuing to host fundraisers for the agent who killed Renee Good tells the public that profit matters more than accountability. We call on GoFundMe’s leadership to take down every fundraiser supporting the ICE agent who killed Renee Good and to stop profiting from deadly abuse of power. Platforms must choose justice over impunity. Sign now to demand GoFundMe stop raising money for violence — and stand on the side of accountability.
