It’s shocking — Atlanta-based journalist Mario Guevara, a legal U.S. resident and recognized community media leader, has been held by ICE despite all charges being dropped. He was arrested on June 14 while livestreaming a protest covering immigration raids, identified himself clearly as press, but was then hit with misdemeanor charges. Even after those charges were dismissed, ICE refused to honor a bond order and continues to detain him—effectively punishing him for doing his job. Detaining a journalist for covering public protests chills speech and undermines our democracy. Tell Congress and ICE: Release Mario Guevara immediately, cancel the removal order, and protect non‑citizen journalists from retaliation.
