Filing Taxes Should be Free and Easy

When Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act last year, it allocated $15 million to the Treasury Department for the IRS to explore the possibility of creating a free federal tax filing service. 

But now, according to a new analysis by Open Secrets, Intuit – the parent company of TurboTax – is spending millions of dollars on lobbying to stop a free and easy tax filing system from being created.
