Emergency: Trump Greenlights More Offshore Drilling

The Trump Administration just announced a massive plan to open more than a billion acres of our public coastal waters to new offshore drilling — including places that have been protected for decades.

If this plan moves forward, it would invite Big Oil to drill off California’s iconic coast, in the eastern Gulf near Florida, and across all of Alaska, including the fragile Arctic. This is a climate and environmental disaster waiting to happen.

At a time when scientists warn we must rapidly phase out fossil fuels, Donald Trump is trying to drag America backwards — locking us into decades more pollution and putting coastal communities and wildlife at enormous risk.

This isn’t just unpopular — it’s broadly opposed. Leaders from both parties are speaking out:

• California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Trump’s drilling plan is “dead on arrival.”

• Florida Republicans, including former Gov. Rick Scott, have repeatedly opposed drilling near their beaches.

• Members of Congress from coastal states across the political spectrum have raised alarms about the threat to local economies, tourism, and fisheries.

Once again, Donald Trump is ignoring science, ignoring the climate crisis, and ignoring the clear and expressed will of the American people — Democrats and Republicans — all to cozy up to the oil industry.
