Don't Put Dr. Oz in Charge of Medicare & Medicaid

Donald Trump’s nomination of Dr. Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is a deeply troubling choice that jeopardizes the health care of millions of Americans. Dr. Oz’s history of promoting pseudoscience, profiting from unregulated health products, and investing in companies that would fall under CMS oversight raises serious questions about his fitness for this critical role.

CMS administers Medicare and Medicaid, programs that provide essential health care to over 150 million Americans, including seniors, low-income families, and people with disabilities. These programs require leadership grounded in trust, transparency, and a commitment to public health. Dr. Oz’s record suggests he prioritizes personal profit over evidence-based medicine and public health outcomes.

Reports reveal that Dr. Oz has millions of dollars invested in companies regulated by CMS, posing serious conflicts of interest. Additionally, his promotion of dubious health products on his television show and frequent peddling of unproven remedies undermine the credibility required for this position.
