Denounce the Dems who Voted for Climate Denier Chris Wright

The Senate recently confirmed former oil company CEO and climate change denier Chris Wright as the United States Secretary of Energy by a vote of 59-38. Alarmingly, seven Democratic senators crossed party lines to support this nomination. (Please see the list at the end of this petition)

Chris Wright, the CEO of Liberty Energy, has a well-documented history of downplaying the severity of climate change. In a 2023 statement, he asserted, "There is no climate crisis, and we're not in the midst of an energy transition." Such views are not only scientifically unfounded but also dangerously dismissive of the urgent challenges posed by global warming. Elevating an individual with such perspectives to lead the Department of Energy sends a troubling message about our nation's dedication to environmental stewardship.

The confirmation of Wright, a prominent figure in the fossil fuel industry, raises significant concerns about potential conflicts of interest. His leadership may prioritize short-term economic gains over the long-term health of our planet and its inhabitants. This decision risks hindering the progress made in renewable energy development and could exacerbate the environmental degradation associated with fossil fuel extraction and consumption.
