Denounce Republicans' Plan to Arrest Texas Democrats

Republicans are launching a new attack on democracy in broad daylight, and it’s all because they’re terrified they’ll lose the midterms.

Texas Republicans and Donald Trump are threatening to arrest Democratic lawmakers for doing their jobs: standing up to an extreme, partisan power grab. 

GOP leaders are furious that Democrats broke quorum to block a radical redistricting plan. They’re calling in law enforcement to hunt them down. And they’re threatening to keep this fight going for years to come if they don’t get their way.

Tell Trump and Texas Republicans: “Abandon the plot to arrest Texas Democrats for fighting against extreme gerrymandering. Let our democracy and the will of the people stand. Let Texas Democrats do their jobs and fight for fair districts.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Senator John Cornyn, and Donald Trump have requested FBI involvement to march into states like Illinois, where Governor JB Pritzker has given Texas Democrats shelter. And FBI Director Kash Patel has given approval.

Why? Because Democrats refused to rubber-stamp a rigged map that silences communities of color and cements Republican power. Trump says he’s “entitled” to five more seats in Texas alone, but this isn’t just about Texas. It’s a national warning sign.

When elected officials face arrest for using the tools of democracy, the system is broken. Quorum-breaking is a legal, time-honored tactic. What’s happening now is political persecution.

If Republicans get away with this, other states will follow.
